Ellen Nightingale, a masters’ student in the Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering and a Trinect fellow for the 2016-2017 academic year, has had a valuable impact on STEM education at Studebaker Elementary in Des Moines. Nightingale served as the resident transportation engineer and taught a class of elementary students how to think like engineers. She saw the impact of her teaching by looking at student drawings of what they thought engineers look like. Visit the Institute for Transportation website for the full story, which was published on February 13.
